About J and C Sporthorses | | | Above: The original farmhouse | | My family's farm is located in the Mill Bay/Cobble Hill area in the South Cowichan Valley, about 30 miles north of Victoria. The Hortons moved to the farm in the 1920's and my parents developed the property into the 240 acre operation that it is today. Over the years the farm has produced milk, hay, silage, beef, vegetables, cut flowers, fruit AND NOW… horses! | | | | | | Above: The barn | | | Raising horses is the newest component of this working family farm. My brother and sister-in-law continue to raise beef cattle, hay and silage and are working towards completion of a BC Environmental Farm Plan for the property. A couple of the fields are leased to local dairy farmers and approximately half of the farm remains forested. | | | | | The numerous trails through these woods and fields provide many unique riding experiences and are the perfect place for raising, training and riding athletic, well-mannered horses. Today, our farm is proud to “honour the equine tradition”.
